We draw it once. We draw it right.

The story

Tattoo Studio opened in 2019 on Rua das Agulhas, in Lisbon. We work by appointment only, one client per artist at a time, so the room stays quiet enough to hear the machine.

The philosophy

Every tattoo starts as a conversation and a drawing made for one body. We don't copy other people's work, and we'll tell you honestly when an idea is too small, too busy or too trend-bound to age well.

Hygiene & safety

Non-negotiable, and visible. Ask to see the autoclave log — we'll show you.

  1. Single-use needles & cartridges Opened in front of you, discarded after your session. Never reused, never shared.
  2. Autoclave-sterilised steel Every cycle logged, with regular spore tests from an independent lab.
  3. Barrier film on every touch point Machine, cable, lamp, chair, bottles. Replaced between every client.
  4. Inks that meet EU REACH rules Vegan, traceable, and the batch numbers go on your aftercare card.
  5. Licensed, insured, first-aid trained All three residents. Certificates hang by the door.

The residents

Three artists, five disciplines. Book one directly, or describe your idea and we'll match you with the right hand. Swipe to meet them.

Five hands, one standard.

  1. Single-needle precision: botanicals, script, micro pieces. Small to medium work that stays airy.

    Artist: Nika

    Fine line sample: fern frond
  2. Solid black, geometry, ornamental and woodcut-inspired work. Graphic, bold, ages extremely well.

    Artist: Dario

Blackwork sample: moth inside a dotted halo
  3. Traditional motifs and composition: koi, waves, peonies, flowing backgrounds. Large scale, planned over sessions.

    Artist: Ren

Japanese sample: curling wave with spray and a dotted sun
  4. Bold lines with more illustrative detail and rich colour. Animals, portraits, ornamental frames.

    Artist: Ren

Neo-trad sample: peony with two leaves on a long stem
  5. Soft gradients and smooth shading: portraits, statues, nature studies. Needs size to hold detail over time.

    Artist: Dario

Black-and-grey realism sample: stippled eye with a single tear

    Heal it well.

    1. Day 0

      Leave it wrapped

Wrap stays on 2–4 hours; second-skin film 3–5 days, as your artist says. Wash your hands before you touch it.

    2. Days 1–3

      Wash, pat, thin layer

Twice a day: lukewarm water, unscented soap, pat dry with paper towel, then a thin layer of the balm we give you.

    3. Days 4–14

      Itch, don't pick

Flaking and itching are normal. Tap, don't scratch. Keep moisturising thinly two to three times a day.

    4. Weeks 2–4

      Still settling

The surface looks healed; deeper layers aren't yet. Still no sun, pools, sea or sauna.

    5. For life

      SPF 50, always

Sun is what fades ink. Book your free healed check and touch-up within three months.

    Avoid for 3 weeks

    • Baths, pools & sea
    • Direct sun & sunbeds
    • Sauna & steam
    • Tight clothing on it
    • Picking & scratching
    • Heavy petroleum ointments

    Questions, answered.

Something we missed? Write to hello@tattoostudio.example — a human answers.

    Does it hurt?

Yes, a bit. Most people describe line work as a hot scratch. Ribs, feet and sternum are louder; outer arm and thigh are quieter. We stop whenever you need to, and a full night's sleep and a proper meal beforehand make a real difference.

Can you tattoo a design I found online?

We'll use it as a reference, never a copy. Your artist draws an original piece around what you love about it.

    Do you take walk-ins?

Only on our monthly flash day, announced on Instagram. Everything else is by appointment.

How long will my session take?

Small pieces take about an hour; palm-sized work two to three. You'll get an estimate at your consultation.

    Do you do cover-ups?

Case by case. Send clear photos in daylight; blackwork and Japanese cover the most.

    How should I prepare?

Sleep, eat, hydrate. No alcohol the day before. Wear something that gives easy access to the placement.

Can I bring someone with me?

One person, yes. The room is small and quiet by design.

    11 — In their words

I came in with a vague idea about my grandmother's garden. Nika came back with a drawing that made me cry — the good kind.
